Conflicting with ROG Masters Asia at the same time, World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) has released its schedule for the Asia-Pacific Finals beginning from November 10-13.
Based in Goyang of South Korea, several teams from the Asia-Pacific region will travel to the Korea International Exhibition Centre to obtain one of the six spots available for WESG Global Finals and a share of the ~$73,800 prize pot.
Four teams from the recent Asia Minor will be attending this event including VG.CyberZen and MVP Project, who finished third and fourth respectively. K23 consist of three Gambit core players who recently won Predator Masters 3. These three teams will be considered as the favourites to win the regional tournament.
Sound's MVP project will be playing on home soil
The Oceanic region will be sending three teams consisting of two Australian teams and one New Zealand team. They will not be at full strength since their main rosters will not be field, due to nationality rules.
This caused Parallax to be split apart into these three teams. Parallax will still have Razmik "RaZ" Bastadjan and Egor "LONSDALE" Baranov. Joining them for this event are veteran Nicholas "n1ck" Shaw, and TRIDENT's duo, Tom "BlackouT" Richmond and Simon "Sico" Williams, who was a former teammate not too long ago.
Immunity will be using Chris "yellow" McGillivray and Jordan "Hatz" Bajic from Parallax, substituting for Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai and Gareth "gazR" Lynn. In addition, Immunity will be welcoming back 1.6 veteran Benjamin "benoR" O'Reilly, as a stand-in for his former teammate Mark "deStiny" Kagan, who couldn't attend.
Athletico announced via Twitter, that Stuart "sonic" Rayner and Connor "chuch" Morgan will not be able to attend due to school examinations taking priority. Therefore, they will bring in Sam "mizu" Richardson from onestop and Sam "jokes" Molan from Parallax.
HLTV.org's YiFan "Amazing" Liu who is associated with VG.CyberZen as a manager, has revealed that Bin "Savage" Liu will not be attending the event due to a head injury caused at the airport. It has been confirmed that EHOME's taiwanese player Tzu-Chi "Marek" Huang will be his substitute, according to cnFrag.com.
The Vietnamese team known as Vikings.Vortex will not be participating due to visa issues surrounding them. Filling their spot in Group B will be Hong Kong's ENZO, originating from Group D and decreasing that group to 4 teams. Group C will also move down to four, as Iran's GEX are unable to attend.
Now down to sixteen contestants, the teams has been separated into these four groups, as shown:
